Antifungal Lamisil Cream (terbinafine)
This medicine contains ingredients which kills fungi and yeasts. It interferes with the cell membrane and stops the fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol. It leads to the death of the fungi.
Composition of Lamisil Cream:
The active Ingredients of this medicine is terbinafine hydrochloride. The inactive ingredients are sorbitan monostearate, benzyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate, isopropyl myristate, cetyl alcohol, polysorbate, sodium hydroxide, purified water, and stearyl alcohol.
Uses of Lamisil Cream:
The medicine is used to treat various fungal infections. It is used to treat athlete’s foot, ringworm, and jock itch. It is also used to treat certain skin condition known as pityriasis.
Side-Effects of Lamisil Cream:
There can be certain side effects of this medicine. The patient may feel itching, irritation or burning sensation at the site of application of this medicine. Contraindications of Lamisil Cream:
The medicine has certain active ingredients which can cause allergies, hence it is advisable not to use this medicine if you are allergic to the ingredients. Also, this medicine is known to interact with certain medical conditions, especially if you are pregnant or if you are taking prescription, non-prescription, herbal medicines or dietary supplements, kidney problems or allergies to other medicines and food. Before using the medicine, make sure that you clean your hand and the affected area with soap and water. If you are using it for the foot, then make sure that you wear ventilated shoes and change shoes and socks every day. This medicine is only for external uses and if the medicine comes in contact with the eye, nose or mouth, then rinse the areas immediately. Pregnancy and Lamisil Cream:
It is not confirmed yet if the medicine has any effects on the fetus. It is not advisable to be used if you are pregnant, unless advised by the doctor. The medicine may pass into the breast milk and can have unwanted effects on the nursing child, hence it is advisable not to use this medicine.
